Bishop Barron is experiencing just such a transition right now, as he settles in as the new Bishop of Winona-Rochester in Minnesota. When we face transitions in our life-good ones and bad ones-we have new opportunities to submit to the change God wills for us. Paul says to the Colossians, “If you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” In baptism, we have died to our old sinful selves, and in our relationship with Christ in the Church, we are called to discover the person we have now been made to be. The practice of our faith, therefore, is a process of change towards our true, heavenly identity. We may sometimes hear it said, “People don’t change.” In my experience, this simply is not true. May God richly bless you in all that you do. I’m looking forward to fostering a growth of faith and reason for everyone in the Word on Fire, and I’m so grateful to be involved with you in developing it. I really enjoy writing, so I’ve written or edited sixteen books, including Jordan Peterson, God, and Christianity, The Gospel of Happiness, The Seven Big Myths about Marriage, The Ethics of Abortion, The Seven Big Myths about the Catholic Church, and Thomas Aquinas on Faith, Hope and Love. Now, I’m chair of the department of philosophy at Loyola Marymount University. Faculty members display a clear love and compassion for the River Bible Institute students while maintaining the level of leadership that is required. After graduating from Notre Dame, I spent a year post-doc in Germany at the University of Cologne, as well as time as a research fellow at Princeton University and as director of the Honors Program at The Catholic University of America. The faculty of the River Bible Institute are educators of the highest quality who believe in excellence in education.
